March for Our Lives, and Why the Stakes Just Got Higher

March for Our Lives, and Why the Stakes Just Got Higher

Thousands are shouting, waving our arms, signaling our need to march not only for gun control, but to save our democracy as well.

Due to events yesterday, experts are saying the risks rival those of the Cuban missile crisis.

We are now under heightened threat by an authoritarian who is purging voices of reason from the White House and replacing them with war-mongers and sycophants.

Thousands are shouting, waving our arms, signaling our need to march not only for gun control, but to save our democracy as well.

Activist, Dr. Arthur Lavin, writes this morning,

This march, conceived as a stand to end the epidemic of death by gun in America has taken on new significance after yesterday's shocking display of Trump's march to power and the overthrow of the Rule of Law.

The mass exodus of leaders of any integrity, the takeover of key positions of authority by delirious propagandists from Fox News, opens the door to the worst that Professor Tim Snyder has been warning us of since before the election.

Professor Snyder… wrote 20 lessons for us to follow to save our nation from losing its democracy in the book The Washington Post called the most significant book of 2017.

Lesson #10 is: ‘Practice corporeal politics. Power wants your body softening in your chair and your emotions dissipating on the screen. Get outside. Put your body in unfamiliar places with unfamiliar people. Make new friends and march with them.’”

Join us in downtown Cleveland at Public Square Saturday morning.

There are more than 800 satellite marches planned, in addition to the D.C. march tomorrow. Click on this link to find a march near you.
